Frequently Asked Questions

Are you thinking about booking your portrait session with Photography by Robin Lewis Heagler? I can give you an idea how it all works, and what you can do to best prepare for your session! I will answer the most frequently asked questions below!

What to Expect for...

Teens / Seniors:

PARENTS: I really love working with high school seniors to create something amazing from what they envision for their senior portrait session! This is a really fun time for them, and likely the last time that they will have professional portraits done of them before their wedding. I definitely want to capture great moments for them - of their personality, individuality, and their dreams for their future. Prior to the portrait session date, we will have a consultation either in person, on the phone or via video call to chat about what you and your senior want from their session. We will discuss location ideas and what they can wear and bring along. I love to personalize their sessions, so I want to get to know them!

SENIORS: Prior to the date of your portrait session, I'd love it if you would text me some photos of the outfits you plan on bringing with you for your shoot! On the date of your session, we will start by pampering you with professional hair and makeup. You can tell me ahead of time how you would like your makeup and what you would like done to your hair. After you are camera ready, we will start shooting in the studio and then we will head out on-location. We typically go to 2 additional locations besides the studio for the Senior Experience session. I usually tell my seniors to plan to shoot in 4 - 5 different outfits. You can always bring more and we can determine what works best for your locations. Always remember to bring accessories...hats, jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, jackets - whatever you love! I can't wait for you to experience your 'model for a day' session!

GUYS: Don't worry - you can skip hair and makeup! You'll get a $100 product credit in lieu of those services (only applies to guys - sorry). Sometimes you guys aren't as excited as the girls are for their photo shoots, but, you always end up having a great time! Tell me what you are into and we will shoot it!

After Your Session:

After your session is complete, I will give you a packet of information with our various products and pricing. I will also give you a checklist so you don't forget to remember to get Aunt Harriet a gift print or mini album! You can also take a look around your own home to get an idea of the spaces you would like to fill on your walls. I encourage you to take measurements and you can even text or email me photos of the spaces you have in mind. At that time we will also schedule your ordering session.

Roughly 2 weeks after your portrait session, you will come in for your ordering session. You will come to the studio and I will show you and guide you through the ordering process to help you decide what products and sizes would work best to fill the space on your walls. I will have samples of various products that I offer through my professional lab, and if there is something particular that you are looking for - don't be afraid to ask as my lab likely offers it. Don't forget to bring your checklist of friends and family that you would like to give some prints to - having all of these things done ahead of time helps your ordering session go smoothly and quickly! You should plan for 1 to 1.5 hours for your ordering session.

Custom Portrait Sessions:

I get many inquiries about what kind of sessions would fall under 'Custom Portrait Sessions' and what type of photography that I do, and NOT do. I do NOT do weddings and engagements, nor do I shoot newborns. I do however, create custom, fine art images of maternity, family and portraiture (fashion, glamour, beauty) and of course, high school seniors. I also shoot actors and modeling headshots and comp cards, as well as commercial work. Please inquire for more details.
